WATERING:
a) Water newly planted lawn every second day during winter (for 10 to 14 days depending on the weather.) During summer months and extremely hot weather it should be watered at least 3 times a day (early morning, noon and late afternoon.(the above is to give the roots time
to re establish themselves)
b) When fertilizing lawn, water fertilize in well after application ( To avoid burning of grass)
c)Established lawns need continual watering especially during dry conditions.
MOWING:
a)A newly planted lawn should only be mowed 10 to 14 days after planting (giving roots time to establish and penetrate into it’s new environment.)
b)On it’s first cut after planting, it should be cut as high as possible (ie: highest setting on your machine)
c) Never cut a lawn too short. The plant needs it’s leaf to grow properly.
d)Remove grass cuttings from mowed lawn, unless mowed with a mulch mower. (if cuttings are not removed dead patches will develop as a
result of, lack of light and insect infestation).
FERTILIZER:
Using inorganic fertilizers:
a) 5 to 7 days after a newly planted lawn has been laid, apply 2:3:2(22zn) fertilizer
b)Repeat above application about 10 days later.
c)About 3 weeks after lawn has been planted apply LAN or UREA fertilizer this must be watered in well to avoid burning grass. This fertilizer will green up your lawn, it feeds the leaf of the plant.
d)Once a year in spring, Super Phosphates should be applied, this revitalizes the plants root system enabling it to support the plant.
